As a United States brewer, Yuengling is only allowed to ship to our assigned distributors. Due to various State and Federal laws, we are not permitted to ship beer directly to retailers and consumers.
The Yuengling Brewery is a regional brewer that has manufacturing plants in Pottsville, PA and Tampa, FL. Currently we distribute our products over a fourteen state area plus the District of Columbia along the eastern seaboard. While there is significant interest for our products nationwide, unfortunately we do not have the manufacturing capabilities to service customers across the United States. As a result, our focus and efforts continues to be on our loyal customers and markets that are logistically feasible to our production facilities.
Over the past few years Yuengling's expansion into new markets has been limited. Our future plans for expansion are based upon our production capabilities and our ability to properly introduce and service retailers and customers in any new market. Such decisions are
based on a market by market basis.
Seven. Lager, Light Lager, Black & Tan, Porter, Chesterfield Ale, Premium and Light. Yuengling also produces a Bock and Oktoberfest Beer on a seasonal basis.
At this time the brewery does not engage in any level of motorsports sponsorship. As you can imagine, we receive a significant amount of requests each month. We certainly recognize the opportunity to gain additional exposure through motorsports sponsorships, however at this time the majority of marketing funds are spent on local market retail promotion hand in hand with our wholesaler partners.
Donation requests are considered on the local market level with our wholesale partners. You are welcome to send an email to marketing@yuengling.com detailing the event you are requesting a donation for. Donation requests will be sent to the appropriate Yuengling representative responsible for your market, and they will review the request with the local wholesaler. Please be aware that due to the high volume of requests that are received, we are unable to meet them all. Important information to include in your email is what type of donation are you looking for, event details, and specifically what state and county the event will take place.
Event sponsorships bearing the Yuengling name are primarily done through the local wholesaler in each market. You are welcome to send an email to marketing@yuengling.com detailing the event in which you are interested in partnering with Yuengling. Event sponsorship requests will be sent to the appropriate Yuengling representative responsible for your market, and they will review the request with the local wholesaler. Please be aware that due to the high volume of proposals that are received and limited funds in each market, we are unable to meet all requests. To ensure that your request is processed promptly, please include specifically what state and county the event will take place.
Black & Tan was originally introduced by combining our Porter and Chesterfield Ale. This was called Half and Half. Around 1986 our Brewmaster felt that 60% Porter and 40% Premium was a much better blend and started producing Black & Tan. Lager, an old recipe that we have re-introduced, was re-produced in 1987. Yuengling Light was first brewed in 1986.
Light beers are held longer in the Mash Tun during the brewing process so that the enzymes in the malt have more conversion time of the starches into fermentable sugars. This leaves fewer unfermentable sugars in the mash that would equate to more calories. The fermentable sugars are then converted to alcohol during fermentation; thus, resulting in fewer calories in the final product.
Please see the Breweries section for scheduled tour times.
There is no charge for the tours unless you have a group of 15 or more. In this case please call ahead for special arrangements:

Yuengling is German meaning 'Young Man'. It is pronounced 'Ying-Ling'.
No, Yuengling is a privately held corporation and does not offer stock to the public. Nor do we issue financial and annual reports.
David G. Yuengling emigrated from Aldingen, Germany. It is a town in Wurttemberg, near Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg, Germany which is in the southwestern part of the country.
David G. Yuengling was making beer in his home in Germany before he came to America.
The bar in the brewery, commonly known as the Rathskeller, was built in 1936.
To become a brewmaster you must successfully complete 10-12 weeks of very intense training as well as a 5-10 years of an apprenticeship. There are two in the United States that we are aware of: The Davis Institute in California and the Siebel Institute in Chicago, Illinois.
A brewmaster is basically in charge of and oversees all of the operations of the brewery.
During Prohibition Yuengling made near-beer which was .5% alcohol, much like the non-alcoholic beers are today. The brewery also opened a dairy called the Yuengling Dairy. Here they made ice cream and other dairy products.
The Yuengling Ice Cream and Dairy Plant closed in 1981. The family that ran the dairy had different interests causing the demise of that portion of the business.
The Yuengling Spring House is located approximately 5 blocks from the brewery. Up until the last decade this was the main supply of water for the plant. With business growing and the demand so high, the Spring House could not supply the amount of water to operate daily. Currently, Yuengling uses approximately 300,000 gallons of water per day.
Kevin Roberts "The Food Dude" partnered with Yuengling in 2010 to assist in promoting our products by pairing his food and our beer. Kevin is a Food Network Star, an Author, a regular on Maxim Radio (Sirius/XM) and Martha Stewart Radio (Sirius/XM), and owner/proprietor of three famous bars in San Diego California. He's appeared on the Today Show, CBS Morning Show, and is a regular on ESPNs Cold Pizza. In addition to the media, Kevin also "tours" colleges and culinary schools nationwide to provide cooking demonstrations and entertain young people.
